Tech challenge (Pasta and marshmallow tower)

My group is Harry, Jacob, Max and Seamus

Purpose: We have been investigating innovators and innovation. We have discovered that innovators have special traits that help them to be leaders in their fields. We also discovered that we share many of the same traits. We had 20 minutes to build the tallest tower made of pasta and marshmallows. We identified creative and challenging because we made a triangle shape no other groups did it. And we challenged each other to make it better. I think I share determined, creative, hard working and problem solving. (Our group would of come 2nd if ours didn't fall over at the end just before Mrs Ellmore measured it.)
I think next time we should try different ones.

Pasta and Marshmallow Tower.

Applying the traits of an innovator
Purpose: We have been investigating innovators and innovation. We have discovered that innovators have special traits that help them to be leaders in their fields. We also discovered that we share many of the same traits.
The five traits that I think I share in common with innovators are:
  • Collaborative
  • Passionate
  • Determined
  • Competitive
  • Challenging
I think the most important traits of an innovator that we identified are:

Because…..
  • Collaboration
  • Communication
  • Critical thinking
  • Creativity
  • Problem solving
  • Effective
  • Empathy

We applied our skills to a group technology challenge- “The leaning tower of pasta”.
Success criteria:
  • Build the tallest freestanding tower using only 40 small marshmallows and half a packet of spaghetti pasta.
  • Construct it within the 20 minute time frame.
  • Only use the materials supplied

How did we use our individual traits in our group: We had good communication and we got through our problems.
Next time we could try: Try different shapes.

Quad Death Game

On Monday we tried out a new game in this is the game.

Quad Death
Writing Purpose: To inform other HNI students the rules of the game and to develop our creative thinking ability.
Audience: Mrs Ellmore and HNI students

Use your creativity to come up with 3 alternative names for this very exciting game!
Quad kaos
Another one
Quad Dangourus

Imagine another class here at HNI has not played this game before. Complete the rules below to clearly describe the aim of the game and exactly what the rules are.

Aim of the game: To get all the balls into one quarter so that they get a point because you want to have the least amount of points.

Rules:
  1. Sit down  no standing.
  2. Try not hurt anyone.
  3. No throwing the balls high.
  4. If you go on your knees or stand your out for the rest of the game.
  5. To have the least amount of points.

Game Adaptations
Use your creative thinking to explore possible adaptations to this game to enhance both the fun factor and the ability to win the game. I have given you one example for each category but challenge yourself with other ideas and thinking.

Attack
Defence
Game Plan/Strategy
  • Use balls other than netballs that aren’t as heavy so the speed of the travelling ball also speeds up the game.
  • 4 players from each quad are allowed to sit on the bleaches to stretch with their arms and intercept flying balls.
  • People on the perimeter of the quad pass the ball to someone closer to the bleaches to allow them to throw it further into the opponent's area.

Attack
Defence
Game Plan/Strategy
You can go onto your knees just for when you attacking.
If a ball comes in your quater get it out as soon as possible.
To through the balls to the other teams and have the least amount of points.

Poster Electronics

The GET READY GET THRU Website says that in our Emergency Kit we need a TORCH and spare batteries. At Electronics I am going to design and make an Emergency Light for myself.
